About the museum
The Püspökvár in Győr was built in the first years of the Hungarian state. It is Hungary’s only medieval episcopal residence and is still the seat of the Diocese of Győr. The castle tower, standing on the Káptalandomb, is almost forty metres high, and from its top there is a view of the town and its surroundings.
In the tower, the permanent exhibition presents the porcelains and sculptures of Borza Teréz under the title “Húsvét titka” (The Secret of Easter). On the staircase landings, the building history of the castle and the portraits and coats of arms of the bishops of Győr can be viewed. The bronze sculptures of Kis Péter depict the former and still-standing parts of the castle. Tickets are available at the ticket office of the Püspökvár-Toronykilátó.
