About the museum

The Kass Galéria opened in 1985 in Vár utca, Szeged. It presents the oeuvre of Kass János (1927–2010), a graphic artist born in Szeged, Kossuth Prize laureate, twice winner of the Munkácsy Prize, and Meritorious Artist and Outstanding Artist (érdemes és kiváló művész).

The gallery already houses several of the artist's major series, such as selected pieces from A kékszakállú herceg vára (Bluebeard's Castle), Az ember tragédiája (The Tragedy of Man), the Bible, Hamlet and the Fejek (Heads) series, alongside his independent prints. After the exhibition space was extended in 1991, temporary exhibitions also became possible; these feature works by contemporary visual artists.

Válogatás Kass János zenei és irodalmi ihletésű grafikáiból – The exhibition presents the artist's world, inspired by music and literature, through part of Kass János's graphic series, for example his illustrations for Az ember tragédiája (The Tragedy of Man).

Admission tickets must be bought at the main cash desk of the Móra Ferenc Múzeum. Under Government Decree 194/2000 (XI. 24.), visitors entering free of charge also pay only the service fee.
