About the museum
The Kistelek museum operates in one of the town's oldest mansion-like townhouses on Rákóczi utca. The permanent exhibition presents objects of everyday life in Kistelek and its surroundings from the first half of the 20th century: visitors can see a peasant house interior and household, as well as memorabilia of the craft workshops once active in the village, of the blacksmith, the shoemaker and the weaver.
The field farming typical of the region is presented in an outdoor exhibition. The reception hall hosts temporary exhibitions, and the building includes a 20-square-metre activity room suitable for children's and youth programmes.
The museum's courtyard is a venue for community events: the two-hundred-year-old oak tree that adorns the garden and the courtyard oven create the atmosphere of the programmes. The collection is run by Kárpátia Kincsesház Kistelek Nonprofit Kft. (Kárpátia Treasure House Kistelek Non-profit Ltd.).
