About the museum
The Álmosd memorial house is the only surviving folk classicist manor house of the Kölcsey family, more than two hundred years old. Kölcsey Ferenc, the poet of the Himnusz, lived here until the age of six, and later, as a young adult, stayed in the house from 1812 to April 1815.
The exhibition “Kölcsey Ferenc élete és munkássága” (“The Life and Work of Ferenc Kölcsey”) opened in 1968 in the family's former house. The manor house has remained in almost its original condition; visitors can see the kitchen with an open chimney and material on the viticulture and winemaking of the Érmellék.
