About the museum
The Rozsnyai István Muzeális Gyűjtemény (Rozsnyai István Museum Collection) is one of the most advanced museum institutions in North Bihar (Észak-Bihar) and stands in the centre of the Vértes district of Létavértes. The building was developed by the Vértesi Református Egyház (Vértes Reformed Church) with EU grant support, and the ethnographic collection of Dr. Rozsnyai István found its home here.
The permanent exhibition presents the ceramic art of the Carpathian Basin: the nearly one thousand pieces from seventy centres of traditional folk pottery form the largest decorative ceramics exhibition in the Tiszántúl by floor area. A separate unit is the Kalotaszeg parlour interior from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The two-storey building houses permanent and temporary exhibition spaces, a reception area and a museum café. The museum regularly holds museum education sessions as well as tradition-keeping and gastronomic events, and often welcomes tourist and children’s groups.
