About the museum
The farmhouse, built in 1790 with horizontal log walls and a thatched roof, has operated as a heritage house since 1975. It was once the home of the potter Cseke János, who died in 1922. Since it came into the ownership of the municipality, it has served, besides presenting the local pottery traditions, as the venue of numerous events.
Illustrating the way of life, the vessel forms, tools and craft aids made in Szombatfa and its surroundings from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century can still be seen here. In the outbuilding stands the traditional Őrség beehive kiln (boglyakemence), in which the traditional wood-fired firing can be seen once or twice a year.
