About the museum
The Slovak heritage house of Oroszlány opened in 1987 in a smallholder house built at the end of the 19th century. The kitchen and rooms of the three-section residential house are arranged like period interiors, mainly with objects collected in the settlement; the first room and the kitchen show a domestic interior from the 1930s. Particularly interesting are the garments showing former Oroszlány costume and the everyday tools of life.
In the barn that closes the courtyard crosswise, there is a cart alongside farming tools. The summer kitchen opposite the house, and the cellar beneath it, present the traditional tools of dairy farming and viticulture. The exhibition also commemorates the supplementary trades with which local residents supplemented their income: potash (hamuzsír) boiling, lime burning and haulage.
