About the museum
The Antiquarium di Mercogliano is located in the Capocastello district, on via Concezione, and presents the material that emerged from excavations in the castle and crypt area.
The route begins with fragments of pottery, iron and bronze buckles, devotional medals and metal buttons from the 17th–19th centuries, found during the excavation of the crypt. This is followed by fine glazed ceramic tableware from the 12th–15th centuries, from the castle, and ceramics with blue decoration as well as sgraffito plates and bowls, from the late Middle Ages to the modern period.
The display ends with jugs, bottles, bowls and lamps in white and polychrome glazed ceramic, dating from the 15th to the 17th century.
