About the museum
Arte Sella is an open-air museum of contemporary art in the Val di Sella, at about 1,000 metres above sea level in the territory of Borgo Valsugana. The project began in 1986 at Villa Strobele and has developed along paths and forest roads, where international artists and architects create works that engage with the landscape, often using natural materials.
There are two exhibition areas. The garden of Villa Strobele, open since autumn 2016, hosts some fifteen installations by internationally renowned architects along a route of about 500 metres, which takes about 20 minutes to walk. The Malga Costa area, the larger of the two, is a 2 km loop with around thirty works and takes 45–60 minutes. Two paths, Montura and ArteNatura, link the two areas; the ArteNatura path has reopened after the damage caused by the Vaia storm.
Every year the museum runs exhibitions, concerts, meetings and educational programmes. Access to the routes during some events may require the ticket for the event.
