About the museum
The museum collects finds from systematic excavations and chance discoveries across the whole Altopiano dei Sette Comuni Vicentini, which document continuous human presence from ancient prehistory onwards, linked to the exploitation of flint, game, pastures and trade. The most significant example is the Bostel, an extensive village inhabited in the Late Iron Age (5th–1st century BC), at the confluence of the Val d'Assa and the Val d'Astico, in a position controlling the ancient routes between the Veneto plain and the Alpine region.
The route follows the chronological order of the collections and begins in an underground room that recalls prehistoric living spaces. On the first floor are displayed materials from the recent prehistoric period, including those of the Longa Laita, a small seasonal Bronze Age settlement near Rotzo, and of the fortified village of Monte Corgnon at Lusiana Conco, and above all the finds from the Bostel.
On the ground floor an immersive cinema room, created with the projects “Re-living the past” and “Re-building the past”, funded by POR-FESR 2014–2020 regional ERDF funds, takes visitors into the village together with Abbot Dal Pozzo, who was its first explorer. Since 2017 the Bostel site and the museum have been run by NEA Archeologia, which offers full-scale reconstructions, experimental archaeology and living history in the archaeological park.
