About the museum
The municipal museum of Caprino Veronese is on the ground floor of Palazzo Carlotti, an 18th-century building that has housed the town hall since 1952. It is named after Giovanni Arduino and holds both palaeontological material and archaeological finds from the Monte Baldo area.
The first archaeological display was set up in 1955 by Giovanni Solinas and was expanded in the 1960s and 1970s thanks to the group of researchers led by Mario Marangoni. The collections span the period from the Palaeolithic to the Roman era; particularly important are the Neolithic material from the Rocca di Rivoli site and the rich Bronze Age complex from Ca' Nova di Cavaion Veronese, while the Iron Age and Roman periods are also well documented.
Alongside the archaeological section are displayed the palaeontological collection from the Gaspari-Fedrigo-Coltri donation, a 14th-century Compianto (lamentation group), First World War relics, objects of local history and art, photographs from the exhibition “Caprino, valori da difendere” by Eugenio Turri, and photographic collections of historical interest.
