About the museum
The Casa museo degli spaventapasseri has been housed since 2006 in the Mulino Angeli, an ancient water mill in Marter, a village of Roncegno Terme, on the banks of the Brenta and beside the Valsugana cycle path. Among the mill’s machinery, which is preserved very faithfully, is the exhibition that grew out of photojournalist Flavio Faganello’s research on scarecrows.
Alongside the scarecrows, the museum presents some wooden toys from Alpine traditions, dating from the 18th to the 20th century. The tone of the visit is deliberately cheerful: the museum presents itself as a place that does not frighten but entertains, with legends, curiosities and educational activities.
Guided tours and workshops for schools are run by the AmBios association. The museum holds Family certification and has received the “Meraviglia Italiana” recognition; it is also part of the Itinerario etnografico del Trentino and is one of the venues of the Museo diffuso della Valsugana orientale.
