About the museum
The house museum is the birthplace of Luigi Oggiano, a lawyer, anti-fascist and leading member of the Partito Sardo d'Azione, remembered as the “avvocato dei poveri” (the lawyer of the poor) and as a senator in the first legislature of the Republic (1948–1953). The building was left as a gift to the people of Siniscola and was opened as a museum in May 2013 by the Comune di Siniscola.
The rooms, spread over two floors in via XI Febbraio, display the lawyer's legacy: his extensive correspondence with figures of the twentieth century, books, documents, paintings and working objects, including his lawyer's gown and hats, alongside large photographic reproductions of the family. His personal library has been merged into the municipal library. The senator's archive has been catalogued and digitised and can be consulted online.
