About the museum

The Palazzo delle Miniere, also known as the Palazzo del Dazio, dates from the second half of the 15th century and was the seat of the mining magistracy. From here the Habsburg government administered the mining and metallurgical industry of Primiero for centuries. The building, renovated in 1558, looks like a fortress and has civil architecture with a clear Tyrolean Gothic character.

Today the palace is part of the network of the Piccoli Musei a Primiero (small museums of Primiero). The permanent exhibitions tell the story of the valley's ancient work, its mineralogy and the figure of Luigi Negrelli, designer of the Suez Canal.

The P-QUÌ display, opened in July 2020, presents a timeline of the history of Primiero with elements made from timber felled by the storm Vaia of October 2018. The route, designed for children and adults, contains collections, old tools and books on the history of the valley.
