About the museum
The museum was opened in 1997 by collector Sergio Sanvido, who dedicated it to Toni Bevilacqua. In 2007 the collection was donated to the Municipality of Cesiomaggiore and moved to the top floor of the village primary school, where it remains today. The museum is part of the Club Italia Musei Ciclismo.
The collection is among the largest in Italy devoted to the bicycle: about 300 examples, a substantial part of which is on display. The oldest piece is a celerifero from 1791. One section is dedicated to work bicycles used until the 1950s by trades such as the knife-grinder, the ice-cream seller, the postman and the firefighter. There are also bicycles for children, tricycles, army vehicles and bicycles that belonged to champions such as Coppi, Bartali, Moser, Saronni and Pantani.
The exhibition route includes a historical section, one for children and one on work bicycles.
