About the museum
The Pozzuolo del Friuli educational centre tells the ancient history of the area, in particular the Neolithic village of Sammardenchia, which was lived in for decades around 7,000 years ago and excavated between 1985 and 2006, and the castelliere from the Bronze and Iron Ages on the heights known as Cjastiei. One section is devoted to the local protohistory, with a room on the castelliere.
The displays are above all designed for learning: reconstructed settings, models and replicas of artefacts to handle accompany hands-on experimental archaeology workshops, including clay working, weaving, grain grinding and simulated excavation. The centre also organises a walk, self-guided or guided, across the hills of the castellieri.
The centre is located in via delle Scuole, in the same building as the Museo della Memoria Contadina. After a re-display that includes a reconstructed Neolithic hut, from 1 October 2026 management passed from the municipality to the Gruppo di ricerche storiche Aghe di Poç.
