About the museum
The L'Ocarina del Po museum-workshop is located in Grillara, a hamlet of Ariano nel Polesine, in an educational farm in the Po Delta Park. It is linked to a family workshop that has worked clay for almost a century and produces terracotta jewellery, ocarinas and whistles. The collection was opened to the public as a museum in March 2010 and is part of the museum system of the Province of Rovigo.
The display, which is historical, educational and musical in character, is arranged in thematic display cases with illustrated panels. It includes clay toys, artistic two-tone terracotta whistles, many of them inspired by local wildlife and by the characters of “The Adventures of Pinocchio”, and terracotta ocarinas that are genuine musical instruments.
Guided tours and educational activities are organised on request. Visitors can also make their own piece in a guided clay modelling workshop.
