About the museum
The Ecomuseo del Lagorai was founded in 2003 to promote the history and traditions of the former Castellalto jurisdiction, which includes the municipalities of Telve, Telve di Sopra, Torcegno and Carzano. It is run by the Associazione Ecomuseo del Lagorai, based in Telve, and is part of the network of ecomuseums of Trentino.
The area preserves traces of the old mountain farming life, in particular the work of the alpine pastures (malghe) and the processing of milk milked on the high pastures, protected by a production specification and a Slow Food presidium. Alongside the older history of Castellalto there is the more recent history of the First World War.
For visits the ecomuseum offers themed historical, nature and ethnographic trails. Among these are the Museo della memoria storica e culturale of Telve di Sopra, which holds the collection donated by Tarcisio Trentin, the Franco Furlan nature trail at Torcegno and the ethnographic wood trail of Carzano. The ecomuseum also organises activities for families and children.
