About the museum
The Ecomuseo “I Mistîrs” preserves the historical and cultural memory of the Val d’Incarojo. In 1995 the municipality of Paularo, the Pro Loco and local associations launched the event “Mistîrs”, in which the old trades are staged. The success of the initiative and its strong ties with the area led in 2009 to the creation of the ecomuseum, run by the municipality together with the Pro Loco Val d’Incarojo and an ecomuseum committee bringing together associations and experts in local culture.
The ecomuseum extends across the territory of Paularo along a route that climbs from the hamlet of Chiaulis to Ravinis, with stops where working environments and past techniques have been reconstructed. The exhibitions are devoted to woodcutters (“menàus”), millers, pork butchers and blacksmiths, stonemasons and carvers, alpine herdsmen, embroiderers and the carnival masks of Ravinis, and include the collection of Mozartina musical instruments.
All exhibitions are free of charge and are visited by reservation, accompanied by a guide.
