About the museum

The exhibition room is housed in the Casa del Trecento (House of the Fourteenth Century) in San Daniele del Friuli, a building of medieval origin that once housed the town’s charitable pawn institution (monte di pietà) and today is the seat of the local group of the Associazione Nazionale Alpini (National Association of Alpini). The building withstood the earthquake of 1976.

The collection occupies three floors. On the first floor are the association’s pennants and photographs of groups and events; the second floor holds documents, posters, postcards, flags and reproductions relating to the Alpine and Austrian units of the First World War. The top floor displays the equipment of the Alpine troops, weapons and ammunition from both World Wars, and the uniforms of soldiers, non-commissioned officers and officers, with a reconstruction of barracks or camp life.
