About the museum
The museum is dedicated to Amedeo Bassi (Montespertoli, 1872–1949), one of the most celebrated tenors of the early 20th century, who won fame in theatres around the world. It is set up in the historic centre of Montespertoli, in Piazza Machiavelli, and is run by the Municipality.
The collection grew out of the memorabilia that his heirs and many enthusiasts have donated to the Municipality over time. The route, spread over three rooms, traces the singer's life and career through photographs, period objects and films, and places him within the great tradition of Italian opera.
A selection of recordings allows visitors to hear the tenor's voice, considered his most vivid artistic legacy. The Municipality's tourist office of Montespertoli is also housed in the same building.
