About the museum
The MuTer – Museo del Territorio di Montespertoli is housed at Via Lucardese 74, in the premises formerly occupied by the Museo della vite e del vino. The new display tells the story of the territory starting from the soil, from the particles carried by water and wind that shaped the hills, and moves on to the four main protagonists of local agriculture: ancient grains, olive oil, wine and truffles.
The heart of the exhibition is the exedra, where the landscape is presented as living memory and as material culture linked to rural work, traditions and agricultural innovation. The approach is sensory and spread out: the museum aims to let visitors experience the identity of Montespertoli through its hills, rows of vines and typical products.
The museum is the result of a community project involving local associations, schools, farms, universities, research bodies and foundations, together with the Amministrazione Comunale (municipal administration). It was realised with a contribution from the Fondazione CR Firenze under the Spazi Attivi call.
