About the museum
The museum, run by Parchi Val di Cornia, houses the collection of Maria Micaelli, with more than fifty dolls, in the village of Suvereto. The route shows the evolution of costume, styles and materials, from porcelain to bisque, from rag to celluloid, and on to felt, fabric and papier-mâché, and touches on some moments of more recent Italian history.
Among the unique pieces and the works of art and craftsmanship from leading Italian manufactories, the examples from Casa Lenci of Turin are of particular importance. Among them stands Violetta, from 1921, the museum's emblematic doll, inspired by the heroine of Verdi's La Traviata.
The museum is in the historic centre of Suvereto, on Via Magenta, and is part of the network of museums and parks of the Val di Cornia.
