About the museum
The Museo Città Creativa is located in Ogliara, a district of Salerno, in an area where clay was extracted, exported and worked since the Middle Ages. It is conceived as a dynamic centre for research, experimentation, exhibition and documentation on ceramics.
The museum is housed in the old ground-floor storehouses owned by the municipality. Nearby, the brushwood-fired kilns (fornaci a fascine), which remained in full operation until the 19th century, can be visited: two of them have been restored and are periodically fired following the same ritual as in the past.
Various urban furnishings have been created at the museum and, at regular intervals, exhibition events such as biennials and experimental exhibitions, in which artists, architects and associations have taken part.
