Museo d'arte moderna e contemporanea Aurelio De Felice (CAOS)
Art museum in Terni in the CAOS, the former Siri plant: collection from the Middle Ages to the 20th century and contemporary art, with the TAM urban art project.
A dialogue between Marino Ficola, with works on paper and sculptures in majolica and porcelain, and Giuseppe Uncini, with geometric forms in reinforced concrete. The Ronchini room at CAOS sets emptiness against mass, fluidity against permanence.
Solo exhibition by Sergio Pagliaricci in the Carroponte room at CAOS, with mixed-media works in which steel fragments from engineering workshops leave their imprint on paper. The work tells of the bond between Terni and its inhabitants.
About the museum
The museum of modern and contemporary art “Aurelio De Felice” is housed in the CAOS – Centro Arti Opificio Siri, a former industrial plant in Terni converted into a cultural centre. The same complex also houses the archaeological museum, exhibition spaces, the Teatro Secci, workshops and artist residencies.
The collection develops from a pre-existing nucleus that spans the history of art from the late Middle Ages onwards, with works of outstanding quality, and reaches the experiments of the 20th century. The museum also engages with the most recent aesthetics, bringing established artists and emerging young artists into dialogue.
It is conceived as a “moving” museum: from its open and dynamic character arises the TAM – Terni Art Mapping project, an audio guide that takes works out of the galleries and links them with the city's urban art, suggesting thematic routes and personalised itineraries. The museum is part of the project “La Valle Incantata”, which connects museums and places in southern Umbria.
