About the museum
The museum holds over a hundred works of art, devotional objects, liturgical furnishings and vestments, mostly from the church of San Biagio and other parish churches in the municipality of Roncofreddo.
The most important piece is a large panel with the Madonna and Child and angels, dating from around 1430 and coming from the church of Santa Maria Assunta in Cento. It is attributed to a painter from beyond the Alps, possibly German, influenced by Venetian Gothic painting. The museum also has two wooden statues from the early 17th century, a Madonna and a Saint John, from the Olivetan church of San Benedetto. The display cases hold chalices, pyxes, monstrances and reliquaries in silver, copper and wood; the central case presents fragments of Roman and medieval pottery found in the municipal area.
