About the museum
The museum was founded in 1948, after the inauguration of the rebuilt Ponte degli Alpini and the first national gathering of the Alpini after the war. It is run by the Associazione Nazionale Alpini (Monte Grappa section) and has been enriched over time through the work of volunteers and donations from members and citizens.
The collections include finds from the First and Second World Wars recovered on the Altopiano and on Monte Grappa, such as barbed wire, helmets, shrapnel and bayonets, as well as period photographs, documents, letters and the leaflets dropped on Vienna by D’Annunzio.
Among the objects on display are part of the pedestal of the “Madonnina del Grappa” and a flag with the Savoy coat of arms; the route also includes a realistic battle setting with mountain artillery howitzers. The association also organises temporary exhibitions.
