About the museum
The museum is attached to the Capuchin sanctuary and friary in Acri and was opened on 23 June 1992. It is dedicated to the Capuchin friar known as Blessed Angelo of Acri, canonised by Pope Francis in 2017, and tells the story of his life, his mission and his connection with Calabria and southern Italy.
The rooms hold relics, objects that belonged to the friar, historical documents, religious texts and publications about his life.
The nearby basilica, built between 1893 and 1898 at the initiative of Father Giacinto, has a central dome and two bell towers clad in copper, a façade with sculptures by Ernesto Biondi and a bronze portal. Inside, a central chapel houses the urn containing the saint's remains.
