About the museum
The museum occupies the original building of the confetti factory founded in Andria in 1894 by Nicola Mucci. It is an Art Nouveau (Liberty-style) building with stone vaults, built as the seat of production; the company later also developed in nearby Trani. In the 1930s the “Tenerelli Mucci” confetto was developed here, and it is still prepared today according to a family recipe.
The route is divided into four sections devoted to documents, tools, machinery and moulds used to produce confetti, sweets and chocolate. In the confetti room are displayed sieves, passini, macerini, moulds for marzipan fruit and for confetti, and copper basins. A video room tells the story of the factory and the stages of production; the chocolate room contains period machines, including a tempering machine and a refiner; the sweets room houses machines with hand-engraved bronze rollers.
A reception room holds the awards won by the company and some allegorical paintings by local artists. The visit ends in the boutique, where the products can be tasted.
