About the museum
The Museo del Moleta tells the story of the moleta, the travelling knife-grinder who went around with his grinding wheel on a cart, a trade practised for generations by the people of Cinte Tesino. Many of the village’s moleta travelled through central and northern Italy, especially Tuscany, but also Lazio, Campania and Sardinia, offering the sharpening of knives and tools.
The permanent exhibition is located in Cinte Tesino, along the provincial road 114. In summer the museum can be visited with a guide and with film screenings about the trade, while on Fridays a working knife-grinder demonstrates the work with the grinding wheel.
