About the museum
The visitor centre is set up in the former rectory of the Rondanina parish, made available by the parish, and is managed by the Antola Regional Nature Park. On 5 May 2001, together with the Rondanina mountain refuge, a museum on the park’s flora and fauna opened in the same building, with tree trunks and plants from the Antola massif, rocks, minerals and stuffed animals.
The current exhibition offers an interactive, educational and emotional route across five rooms, using multimedia technologies. It addresses the relationship between humans and wolves: ecological and behavioural aspects, monitoring techniques, the latest data on the presence of wolves in Liguria and prevention measures to reduce conflicts with livestock farmers. A large section is devoted to representations of the wolf in history, traditions, literature and the visual arts, from films to cartoons. Among the exhibits is a stuffed wolf found in Torriglia in February 2006.
