About the museum
The Fondazione Neri in Longiano is a research centre on street furniture and its forms over 150 years of history. It holds lamp posts for gas or electric lighting, fountains, benches, brackets, balustrades, gate leaves and bollards, often acquired through donations from public administrations.
There are two exhibition sites. The first, opened in 1998, is in the former small church of Santa Maria delle Lacrime in the old village, and shows some of the finest pieces from Italian and European cities, accompanied by period images. The second, the MIG, opened in 2010 in a large industrial space at the company Neri S.p.A., and finally made it possible to display the entire collection in a structured route.
The foundation also has a rich archive of specialist texts, historic catalogues from manufacturers, drawings, photographs and postcards of models produced in Italy and abroad between the 19th and 20th centuries.
