About the museum
The museum is next to the cathedral-basilica of Santa Maria della Marina in San Benedetto del Tronto and is an ecclesiastical museum of sacred art. The rooms hold ancient and precious vestments with which the body of the holy martyr Basso, venerated in Cupra Marittima, was clothed.
The second room displays images of Saint Benedict the Martyr and furnishings from his church. The route includes four carved and gilded wooden statues of the Evangelists, 19th-century works, a wooden tabernacle made by Father Luigi Sciocchetti and the original sketches for the apse painting of the cathedral, executed in 1993 by Ugolino da Belluno.
