About the museum

The museum was opened on 2 July 1995 on the initiative of the cultural and research group “Il Manegium”, which has managed it ever since with the aim of preserving the historical testimonies of the rural civilisation of the Polesine. Since 2004 it has been housed in Palazzo Dolfin-Boniotti, a 16th-century building near the Casa Museo Giacomo Matteotti.

The route recreates the settings and trades of the past, with the tailor's workshop, the cellar, the carpenter's workshop, the kitchen, the bedroom and the blacksmith's workshop, and also gathers flat irons, coins and ceramics.

In addition to the ethnographic section there are a historical-documentary exhibition on the Carboneria of the Polesine, one devoted to Giacomo Matteotti, an exhibition on popular religiosity and a collection of taxidermied animals and birds.
