About the museum

The Museo Officine Benelli occupies about 1,000 square metres of the old Benelli factory at viale Mameli 22 in Pesaro, described as the last example of industrial archaeology left in the city. The museum is run by members of an enthusiasts’ club, who tell the story of the six Benelli brothers and of the motorcycle company from Pesaro.

The route displays about 150 motorcycles on permanent exhibition. The room dedicated to Tonino Benelli holds photographs, trophies and engines; the room named after Giuseppe Benelli houses the first models and pre-war bikes, including the De Dion Bouton tricycle, the first motorcycle to arrive in Pesaro in 1897, and two rare Molaroni motorcycles from the 1920s. A second room presents the Leoncino models, a symbol of the company’s revival after the war, and the four- and six-cylinder motorcycles of the 1970s.

On a wooden mezzanine of about 250 square metres are displayed all the MotoBi models from 1950 to 1970, the Benelli and MotoBi mopeds of the 1960s, and racing motorcycles from makers such as MBA, Morbidelli, Piovaticci and Sanvenero. The complex also includes a reception, a bookshop, a conference room and an audio-visual room, and it is used as a cultural centre and restoration school.
