About the museum

The museum is housed in the Casina di Vîc, the former dairy of the hamlet of Vico in Forni di Sopra, built around 1886. It opened in 2011 thanks to the voluntary work of a group led by Alfio Anziutti, together with many residents who donated the objects on display. The same building also houses the post office and the local section of the CAI (Italian Alpine Club).

The route documents the rural and agro-pastoral life of the mountain community: winter and summer transport, domestic life, dairy processing and the textile tradition linked to hemp and flax. It begins in the corridor on the ground floor, where sledges, shovels, small sledges and snowshoes are displayed, and continues with an old carpenter’s workshop and a reconstructed traditional kitchen.

In the cheese-making room are large copper cauldrons of 14 and 16 quintals, while another room gathers tools for fodder, agriculture and textile fibres. The visit is completed by period photographs of village life.
