About the museum
The museum was inaugurated on 2 June 2007 in a wing of the 19th-century Villa De Manzoni, in Patt di Sedico, a building owned by the Province of Belluno. The collections come from the Museo-Sacrario del 7° Alpini, which was housed in the Caserma Salsa in Belluno and owned by the Ministry of Defence, and have been reorganised into a new display.
The route traces the history of the regiment from its formation in 1887 to the most recent international missions. The best documented period is the First World War, but there are also materials from the East African campaigns and the Second World War, in particular from the Western and Greco-Albanian fronts.
The collections include weapons, historic regimental pennants, memorabilia and documents, as well as photographic archives of the First World War and the Ethiopian War, historical diaries and a large collection of military postcards. The museum is run by the Province of Belluno in collaboration with the Belluno, Feltre and Cadore sections of the Associazione Nazionale Alpini.
