About the museum
The museum is the result of extensive research by Giuseppe Saba, from Ozieri, who collected objects from rural life and from the city's old craft workshops, saving them from being lost. The name derives from a stuffed eagle, a gift from the family of the painter Giuseppe Altana. The room, decorated in a naive style, combines the atmosphere of a tavern with the layout of an ethnographic museum.
The first room is dedicated to wines and liqueurs, with over 2,500 litre bottles and around 700 miniature bottles, including a local wine from 1927, as well as vermouths, bitters and spirits from the 1940s to 1960s. There are also historic sodas and soft drinks from Ozieri producers, and rosoli (traditional liqueurs) made by the owner.
The route includes corners representing a doctor, a shoemaker, a blacksmith and a barber, farm tools, keys and wrought-iron locks, ceramics linked to Sardinia's first electricity line (Ozieri, 1907), tufa-block stoves, and sieves and bread shovels from Ozieri, as well as minerals and fossils from around the world. The museum is run on a non-profit basis.
