About the museum
The museum is located in Faenza, in the house and studio that the artist Guerrino Tramonti had built and where he lived and worked from 1958 until his death in 1992. At his wish and that of his family, the Fondazione Guerrino Tramonti was set up to promote and make known his works; it is chaired by his son Marco.
Tramonti, born in Faenza in 1915, was a painter, ceramicist and sculptor. After studying at the city's ceramics school, he gained recognition with sculpture prizes and by winning the Premio Faenza. In 1968 he gave up ceramics to devote himself to painting, although he later returned occasionally to the material that had made him known.
The exhibition occupies seven rooms and presents around 390 works that the artist considered the most representative of his career: terracottas from the 1930s and 1940s, paintings from the Venetian period, polychrome glazed ceramics, porcelain inspired by Far Eastern techniques, decorative discs with thick enamel, and abstract and textured paintings from the last decades.
The museum is part of the Sistema Museale Nazionale and of the Musei dell'Unione della Romagna Faentina. The Emilia-Romagna Region recognises it as one of the houses and studios of distinguished personalities.
