About the museum
The Antiquarium comunale of Ronchi dei Legionari opened in 2012 and occupies the restored barn of an 18th-century manor house in the centre of the town. The display is spread over two floors, with explanatory panels and an educational video.
Most of the finds come from a Roman villa discovered in 1987 on the western edge of Ronchi, near the airport area, a settlement active from the 1st century BC to the 3rd century AD. Mosaics, coins, pottery, glass, metal objects and building materials are on display.
Alongside the Roman material, some objects illustrate the history of the area more generally.
