About the museum
The civic gallery is on the first floor of the building at Via Mazzini 10, an 18th-century building in the historic centre that also houses the Biblioteca Ascariana, founded from the bequest of the Silvestrine monk Giovanni Ludovico Ascari and recognised by a papal brief in 1745.
The collection was set up in the 1980s, with works coming mainly from the church of San Domenico. In 1988 it was expanded and named after the painter from Cingoli, Donatello Stefanucci, following a donation that brought a large number of his paintings to the museum.
The building was damaged by the earthquake of 2016 and the gallery remained closed for several years. It reopened with a new display set up in 2024, which presents 20th-century art from Cingoli through Stefanucci, Giovanni Toccafondo, Maurizio Carloni and Cesare Emidio Bernardi.
