About the museum
The Montecosaro gallery is dedicated to two 20th-century artists, Sergio Graziosi and Umberto Peschi, both born in Macerata. The idea of a permanent exhibition in their memory came from enthusiasts and experts on their works, and many Italian and foreign artists donated works to the new museum.
Alongside a small archaeological collection, the museum houses the collection Graziosi assembled over his life and travels: 18th-century Neapolitan nativity scenes (presepi), a 15th-century Spanish painted wooden altarpiece, a 17th-century Mexican Holy Family, a 17th-century Saint Charles Borromeo from the Bologna circle and canvases by Filippo Spada.
The visit is completed by a collection of prints by Giorgio de Chirico and Mino Maccari.
