About the museum
The sacred art collection was created during the restoration of the Duomo di Cormons at the end of the 1990s. Its aim was to bring together in one place the parish works scattered around the town, and to secure those kept in churches that had been left at risk after several thefts.
It is housed on the first floor of the “Cjase da plef antighe”, the old parish house (casa della pieve), in two rooms. The objects are arranged by type: paintings and sculptures, goldsmiths' work and historical documents. The period covered runs from the 13th to the 20th century.
Among the works on display are a late 16th-century Annunciation, formerly in the Duomo; a “Transito di san Giuseppe” (The Death of Saint Joseph) by Antonio Facci; an 18th-century “San Francesco Saverio” by Giuseppe Bernardino Bison; a “San Luigi Gonzaga” on canvas by an unknown artist; and a Madonna della Cintola (Virgin of the Girdle) from the mid-18th century with Saints Monica, Augustine and Nicholas of Tolentino.
