About the museum
The Torre dei Lambardi is a square tower about 30 metres high, built between the 12th and 13th centuries by the Knights of St John, today the Order of Malta. Because of its position it served to control food supplies bound for Perugia, in particular the fish of Lake Trasimeno, and in the late Middle Ages it was the scene of fighting. The origin of the name is uncertain: one hypothesis links it to a murder that took place near the building in 1688.
The tower stands in a park a short distance from the centre of Magione and has three floors and two mezzanines. The floors house exhibition spaces, with an interactive table on the second floor and video projections on the first and second; the room on the first floor can also be used for weddings and events.
A lift near the entrance serves the four intermediate floors, while the top terrace, which offers views of Perugia and Lake Trasimeno, is reached by a spiral staircase.
