About the museum
The permanent exhibition of the Dobeles novada muzejs, “Reiz Dobelē…” (Once Upon a Time in Dobele), tells the story of Dobele and its surroundings from prehistory to the mid-20th century. It introduces the material culture of the oldest inhabitants – the Zemgalians – the everyday life of the people in the Livonian Order castle at Dobele, and the development of Dobele into a town.
The exhibition highlights the history of Dobele Castle, especially the period of the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia, as well as themes from the history of education, medicine, cultural life and religion.
