About the museum
The Kuldīgas novada muzejs is located in the historic Bangertu villa, in the most beautiful spot in the old town of Kuldīga. From the windows of the building there is a view of the Ventas rumba (Venta Rapids), the old brick bridge and the Pilsētas dārzs (Town Garden), which was created on the site of the former castle of the Livonian Order.
In the villa there is an interior exhibition, “Turīga kuldīdznieka dzīvoklis 20. gadsimta sākumā” (The Apartment of a Wealthy Kuldīga Resident), in which part of the museum's extensive card collection – one of the largest in the Baltics – is presented in the gentleman's study. The exhibition “Kuldīga pirms mums” (Kuldīga Before Us) provides more information on the history of the old town of Kuldīga; the old town is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
