About the museum
In the remote village of Kybartai, on the Lithuanian–Polish border, the open-air museum founded by army officer Donatas Mazurkevičius consists largely of natural heritage. Above all these are stones, brought in from the surrounding fields and from farther away, often of striking shapes. Here the natural landscape and the human history of the Lazdijai region intertwine creatively.
Among the natural objects in the exhibition are symbols of the region's history: shell cases from wartime, ethnographic household items and decommissioned border posts brought from the state border, reflecting the turns of the era and a painful past. The largest part of the exhibition consists of old household items and farming tools of the people of this region. The owner himself welcomes visitors.
