Lom bygdemuseum Presthaugen

About the museum

The buildings at Presthaugen are arranged as a large farmstead (storgard), with an inner farmyard (inntun) for people and an outer farmyard (uttun) for animals. The old timber houses have been brought from farms in Lom, Skjåk and Vågå, and the site includes, among other things, a mountain farm yard (setertun), a cotter's farm (husmannsplass) and a schoolroom (skolestue). The largest storehouse in the country, the Storstabburet from 1613, stands here.

Lom heimbygdslag (local heritage society) was founded in 1925 to buy a collection of 355 objects from Olav Aukrust. Initially the collection was shown in the parsonage (prestegarden), until the old assembly place Presthaugen was taken into use as a museum area. In 2003 Musea i Nord-Gudbrandsdalen was established, and in 2008 it became part of the regional museum Gudbrandsdalsmusea.

In July, Gudbrandsdalsmusea together with Lom heimbygdslag arrange concerts and lectures at Presthaugen.
