About the museum
At Kút, an early Gothic church dedicated to All Saints was built in the last third of the 13th century. It is among the oldest surviving sacred buildings in Liptov; more significant structural alterations date from the 15th and 16th centuries. The site is enclosed by a late Renaissance wall from the 17th century, and a Classicist gateway from the mid-19th century leads into the interior.
The interior is dominated by colourful frescoes from the 14th and 15th centuries. They were not whitewashed even when the church was used by Evangelicals, and they were preserved during the restoration of 1843. At the beginning of the 20th century Jozef Hanula modified them, and in 1961–1966 Mikuláš Štalmach restored them. The interior is complemented by wooden galleries from the 17th century, stone memorial slabs of the Rakovský family from the 18th century, and parts of the furnishings of churches from the flooded area of Liptovská Mara.
The whole site is managed by the Liptovské múzeum; the Gothic main altar from the church is displayed in the exhibition of sacred art of Liptov in Ružomberok.
