About the museum
The Múzeum včelárstva na Slovensku developed in the cadastre of the municipality of Kráľová pri Senci as a beekeeping school and property of the Slovenský zväz včelárov (Slovak Beekeepers' Association) in the years 1932–1933. The site is run by the Včelárska paseka, a facility of the association. The beginnings of the collection are linked to the initiative of R. Mičieta, the author of the first work on the history of beekeeping in Slovakia.
The open-air museum is built in an English park by the road between Senec and Sládkovičovo. The exhibition presents unique collections of hives, some of which were already in use in the 17th century, and box hives of various types from the 18th century. In the building of the large apiary are honey extractors, presses for comb foundations and beekeeping equipment from various periods of the development of Slovak beekeeping.
The site also offers a nature trail, a rest zone, a honey-processing room and observation bee colonies. Visitors can take part in an expert excursion with a lecture, a guided tasting of honeys and meads, or a course; accommodation is also possible on the site.
